American Express Air France KLM Cards
American Express offers three co-branded Air France KLM cards that let you accumulate Flying Blue miles and XP on everyday spending. Since 15 January 2026, the XP earning rules have been significantly revised.
⚠️ January 2026 Update — XP Reduced
Annual XP bonuses have been cut and a new spend-based XP system has been introduced. The Platinum drops from 60 to 30 base XP, Gold from 30 to 10 XP. In return, you can now earn +5 XP per €5,000 spent (subject to an annual cap).

XP are credited in two steps: an annual flat amount on the card anniversary date, then XP for each €5,000 spent during the year.
| Card | Base XP / year | +5 XP per €5,000 | Max times / year | XP cap / year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | 0 XP | — | — | 0 XP |
| Gold | 10 XP | ✓ | 6× (€30,000) | 40 XP |
| Platinum | 30 XP | ✓ | 10× (€50,000) | 80 XP |
How to reach the cap?
Gold: 10 base XP + 6 × 5 XP = 40 XP max, requires €30,000/year spending. Platinum: 30 base XP + 10 × 5 XP = 80 XP max, requires €50,000/year spending.

Which card to choose for your profile?
You fly rarely: the Silver at €65/year is an entry-level option to accumulate miles without XP. If you're not targeting a status, it's sufficient.
You're targeting Silver or Gold status and spend €5,000–€15,000/year: the Gold at €252/year earns you 10–25 XP/year (base + spend), plus a free bag on short-haul flights.
You're a frequent traveller or spend over €20,000/year: the Platinum justifies its €792/year with Flying Blue Extra Essentiel (2 lounge accesses), 3 miles/€ on AF/KLM and up to 80 XP/year.
For Ultimate status: card XP only count as regular XP, not UXP. The Platinum card does not replace AF/KL-numbered flights for targeting Ultimate.
