Air France, KLM and Transavia Flights

The Air France-KLM group operates through three complementary airlines. Understanding their differences is essential for optimising your travel and your Flying Blue miles.

Operated vs marketed flights

A flight can be marketed by Air France (AF code) but operated by KLM or another SkyTeam partner. This is the codeshare concept.

  • The operating flight determines the aircraft type and on-board services
  • The marketing flight determines miles earned and baggage policy
  • Always check the actual operator before booking

Connection strategy

The group excels at hub-and-spoke connections. By booking a single ticket with a connection, you are protected in case of delay.

  • On a single ticket, Air France/KLM will rebook you in case of delay
  • Gold+ status members access priority queues
